AM Live 2021 was the first aesthetics industry exhibition since the pandemic, and it exceeded expectations.

Safe and sanitary

Aesthetic Medicine Live was pleased to partner with virus protection company Vycel to help keep the entire show space sanitary in light of covid-19. A team of six specialists armed with Vycel Electrostatic Sprayers sprayed the whole space before delegates arrived and during the show, focused on sanitising the Main Conference stage, Demo Theatre stage, Business Workshops stage, UKAPPS Theatre and the show entrance at regularly-scheduled periods throughout both days, and before and after talks. The team arrived at the show for 8am each morning and did a final treatment of the space at the end of each day.

A fter 15 months without any face-to-face education or networking in the aesthetics field, Aesthetic Medicine took the leap and held the first in-person conference and exhibition since the pandemic.

The Vycel Electrostatic Sprayer machine projects sanitising mist up to two metres, evenly coating surfaces and cleaning the air it passes through, killing 99.99% of viruses and bacteria and delivering 1.65 billion particles of cleaning solution every minute. It has over three hours’ battery run time and uses 75% less cleaning chemical solution than the industry standard, according to the company, making it safe for regular use in settings like conferences or clinical environments where turnover of people is high.

Over two days in July (8-9) at Olympia London, AM Live reunited industry professionals and suppliers in what turned out to be a very successful event, with over 2,400 visitors across the two days.

In addition to Vycel’s sanitisation efforts, everyone inside the National Hall at Olympia for the show was temperature-checked on the door and required to wear a mask or face covering during the event.

Mark Moloney, managing director of Professional Beauty Group, organiser of Aesthetic Medicine Live, commented: “Aesthetic Medicine Live was the first trade event in any major UK centre since the pandemic, and the team and I are proud to play a small part in helping the profession to connect; providing so much live content and many networking opportunities.

“Equally important, there was some solid business done on the stands. I’m very grateful to our exhibitors, visitors and speakers who kept faith, also to our suppliers and the Olympia management.”

Here’s what some of the exhibitors, visitors and conference delegates had to say:

Sam Keene, marketing manager, Cutera UK – Headline Sponsor “It’s fantastic to be back seeing people again and catching up on a personal level as well as talking about business. It’s great for people to be able to physically see our products all under one roof again, and to get our KOLs together all in one place – there’s only so much you can do on digital platforms. The show has been great for us, the first morning there was a strong flow of people from our demonstration on the Demo Theatre stage – visitors have come and sought us out. As headline sponsor, it’s worked out really

Simon Ramshaw, managing director, Erchonia Lasers – Platinum Sponsor “It’s absolutely fantastic to be at a live event, I think it’s been a very frustrating time for everyone in the industry and just to interact with each other again is perfect, giving visitors the opportunity to ask questions live and see the treatments in person, it’s of huge benefit to them and we’ve been chomping at the bit to get here.”

Nick Blake, UK business manager, Solta Medical – Platinum Sponsor “It’s absolutely brilliant to be back at a live event. It’s been really busy; we’ve had lots of attention and people have been very interested in our devices. The show has met expectations in terms of how well attended it is. Aesthetic Medicine Live is great for the industry.”

Eddie Campbell-Adams, business development director, BTL

“It’s great to be back seeing customers, colleagues and people we know in the industry again; it’s still thriving. This has also been a great opportunity for people to see our equipment again, and for us to connect with new people.”

Zoe Phillips, UK senior brand manager, Menarini RELIFE

“It’s absolutely fantastic to be back, live and face-to-face with all our peers and colleagues. The last two days have been superb – beautifully-spaced exhibition booths, plenty of social distancing and no one is on top of each other. Everyone is so positive; clinicians have been so excited to discover new products and listen to the great talks.”

Dr Raj Thethi, owner, Yorkshire Skin Centre

“It’s been so long since we’ve managed to see people face-to-face – companies, old friends and colleagues. I was speaking [on the conference agenda] yesterday and it was such a delight to be welcomed on stage and give a talk to such a lovely audience. I’m taking several bits of technology back to my clinic, along with the energy from the event.”

Amanda Wilson, independent nurse prescriber and clinical education manager, Healthxchange

“I have absolutely loved being back today and seeing colleagues, it’s been a long year-anda-half of having no conferences. I’ve really enjoyed all the talks, it’s a great mix. I’ve seen lots of talks on skincare which I’ve found really interesting, and injectables and devices too. I do a lot of device treatments in clinic and I’ve been inspired to put together some different combination treatments, such as laser with fractional radiofrequency microneedling. I don’t currently offer laser treatments and it was fascinating to see the results on scar tissue.”
