Aesthetic Medicine India turns 2!

Despite the turbulence and a bad weather, we have made a smooth landing, and are yet again ready for a successful take-off in our third year.

Our biggest challenge in 2020-2021: the country-wide lockdown and its impact on the aesthetic practice and businesses. But we prolifically responded to this challenge by adopting digital means. Digitally, we literally started from ground zero (in India) and have achieved numbers that are growing by the day – be it the digital magazine downloads, website traffic,YouTube channel subscribers, social media followers, webinars, live interviews – we have done it all, and continue to do so. (Read digital growth story on Pg 80)

This edition is your gateway to rich, exclusive and valuable information. As we celebrate two successful years in India, we reached out to 20 doctors – 10 dermatologists and 10 aesthetic plastic surgeons – to explore 20 non-invasive and invasive aesthetic treatments. (from pg 24-59). My sincere gratitude to Dr Medha Bhave for extending all her support in identifying the 10 invasive treatments and guiding me to connect with some of India’s prominent aesthetic plastic surgeons. I recall her clarifying on ‘aesthetic plastic surgeons’ being the apt implication, and not ‘cosmetic surgeon’. Quoting from what she said, “While cosmetic implies superficial, aesthetics aim at achieving a complete balance from the core.” Also, my heartfelt thankfulness to the editorial advisory board experts Dr Apratim Goel, Dr Amit Luthra, and Dr Mukta Sachdev, for their support in identifying the 10 non-invasive treatments and suggesting dermatologists pan-India for the same.

What’s more, this edition also features some interesting case studies such as permanent eyebrows on an acid attack survivor (pg 58); subtle collagen – stimulating filler in a patient in her early 70s (Pg 63); injectable work with three contestants from season 2 of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK (pg 60); and much more on practice management (Pg 70 onwards).

A big thank you to our Editorial Advisory Board (Pg 8) for constantly guiding us through this journey, and our advertisers, and the aesthetic community – our readers – for accepting us and being a part of our growth story.

Wishing you a pleasant read and safe times ahead!
