Dubai hosts groundbreaking Annual World Congress of ICOPLAST 2023

Dubai hosted the prestigious Annual World Congress of the International Confederation of Plastic Surgical Societies (ICOPLAST) from May 5-7, 2023. ICOPLAST was organised in collaboration with the Arab Association of Surgical & Medical Aesthetics (AASMA) and the Emirates Plastic Surgery Society (EPSS) for the first time in the Middle East. The three-day congress attracted more than 1,500 delegates from over 112 countries.

Stakeholders across the industry including plastic surgeons, aesthetic medicine physicians, residents, medical students, nurses and other industry representatives shared space to communicate and exchange ideas for innovation in the field. Key topics at the congress included surgical approaches to facial aesthetics, updates in breast surgery, state-of-the-art techniques in body contouring and advances in regenerative surgery and medicine. The recent updates in the treatment of breast implant illness (BII) were also discussed among peers.

The event also showcased the current aesthetic trends and shed light on the global surgery market growth figures. The $46.02 billion industry in 2021 is set to record $58.78 billion in 2028. The aesthetic business has emerged as one of the most crucial contributors to the UAE’s medical tourism rise. The three- day conference was a resounding success.
