FDA approves injectable treatment for wrinkles

There is an increase in demand for wrinkle-reduction treatments and anti-ageing procedures. Recently, the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) green-lighted an injectable treatment for the correction of fine lines and wrinkles. The drug administered to achieve these results is an injectable liquid poly-L-lactic Acid (PLLA-SCA). This treatment is currently marketed as Sculptra and is the first of its kind PLLA collagen stimulator approved by the FDA. The press release – issued by the manufacturer of Sculptra, Galderma – mentioned that when injected into the cheek area, the injectable helps stimulate natural collagen production. This helps smooth wrinkles and improve skin quality with enhanced firmness and a natural glow. Sculptra was first approved in 2009 for aesthetic treatments only in the US. Now, it is available in more than 40 countries including India.
