Chennai witnesses masterclass on microneedling techniques

Dr Bhairavi Senthil’s Skin Health Foundation conducted a masterclass in Chennai on latest micro-needling techniques for skin treatment. Dr Andrew Christie-Schwarz, Clinical Director and Global Medical Trainer for DermapenWorld, headed the masterclass.

According to reports, Dr Bhairavi explained that microneedling, which is also known as collagen therapy, is a procedure that involves pricking the skin with fine needles. These needles lead to small wounds prompting the body to produce more collagen and elastin, thus improving skin.This was demonstrated on actresses Mrinalini Ravi and Shambhavy Gurumoorthy.

Victress Beauty Academy announces semi-permanent training programmes

Victress Beauty Academy announced the launch of training programmes in semi-permanent makeup in Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi and Indore. The programmes will provide hands-on training, teach global techniques and treatment in semi-permanent makeup applications.

The six-day programme, which began its first batch in Hyderabad on 9 November, 2022, will culminate in Indore on 21 December, 2022.The courses will be conducted by Victress Beauty Academy’s expert technicians Abhishek, Minal and Khushboo, who will share techniques such as microblading, microshading, combination brows, ombré powder brows, lip blush, and lip correction.

According to Victress Beauty Academy, there has been a growing demand for permanent makeup (PMU) applications in the Indian market. By 2023, the PMU segment is expected expand rapidly in India.

Dermatologist among Pride of Nation Awards 2022 winners

Dr Jagdish Sakhiya, Founder and Chief Dermatologist, Sakhiya Skin Clinic, has won the Pride of Nation Awards 2022. A renowned name in cosmetic dermatology, Dr Sakhiya received the award with other winners for their contribution in their fields.

Aimed at recognising success and appreciating efforts of the individuals, the awards celebrate the growth of those who contribute exceptional service to the country. Dr Sakhiya, who established himself in the aesthetic and cosmetic dermatology field, received training in anti-wrinkle injections therapy in Australia and micro-derma and chemical peelings in Paris among other trainings.

The Pride of Nation Awards 2022 was graced by Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India and Minister of Civil Aviation, with General VK Singh as chief guest.

Karnataka dermatologist awarded CNN-News18 Indian of the Year 2022 Award

Dermatologist Dr Shankare Gowda has been announced as CNN-News18 Indian of the Year 2022 Award. Popularly known as “five rupees doctor”, Dr Gowda bagged the award in the ‘Social Change’ category.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari presented the award to him in Delhi.The humanitarian, who has been practising for 35 years, is an MBBS graduate from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. He also earned a diploma in Venereology and Dermatology. Hailing from Mandya, Karnataka, Dr Gowda charges Rs 5 for medical check-up and prescribes medicines that are affordable, making him popular for his social activism.

National conference of Association of Plastic Surgeons of India held in Amritsar

A national conference of the Association of Plastic Surgeons was organised in Amritsar, Punjab, from 9 to 13 November, 2022. More than 700 plastic surgeons from across India attended the conference.

The event was also attended by about 20 plastic surgeons from Australia, Dubai, Europe and the US. Latest advancements in the fields of reconstructive and aesthetic surgery were discussed in the conference. Furthermore, master classes, hands-on workshops and surgical video workshops for trainee plastic surgeons were showcased. The conference was organised by the Department of Plastic Surgery, Amandeep Hospitals, Amritsar.
