Lifestyle issues are a challenge these days. “People spend most of their time indoors and have long sitting hours of work. There is no exercise, and the food habits are not as healthy. All this put together adds to the problem of PCOS,” informs Dr Ganjoo. He adds that as the incidence of PCOS increases, the acne increases and therefore the demand for treatment for acne.
In her practice for over 22 years now, Dr Shah has been consulting patients with PCOS from the beginning, and of course, the number of patients coming to her are increasing day-by-day. “Here the diet and lifestyle are important. Girls have been following a more sedentary lifestyle, outdoor activities are less, and food is not so healthy. More sugar and carb-based diet leads to an increase in insulin resistance, obesity, and eventually PCOS also gets exacerbated. Definitely there is acne because of PCOS,” she shares.
