LEVRAM’s New VPRP Tubes
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrate of platelet rich plasma proteins derived from the whole blood, centrifuged to remove the red blood cells. It has a greater concentration of growth factors than whole blood, and has been used to encourage a brisk healing response across several specialties.
They provide accessories in the kit as well and the procedure is as follows:
Step 1 . Select the site of Venipuncture.
Step 2 . Take the VPRP tube and collect blood using the Multi Sample Needle.
Step 3 . After the collection, mix the blood with anticoagulants gently.
Step 4 . Centrifuge the tube at 2100-2200 G recommended as 3700 RPM (2147 G) for 7 minutes.
Step 5 . After centrifugation above the gel, we get a separate layer of whole serum (PRP and PPP).
Step 6 . Two layers are separated by PPP 75 per cent and PRP 25 per cent of the whole plasma.
Some of the precautions that need to be taken are:
1
. The harvested PRP should be used on the same patient with whom the blood was taken from.
2
. Store the tubes at 4-25° C (39-77° F).
3
. Storage of the tube above 40° C will affect the gel stability.
4
. Remove the rubber stopper by gently twisting and pulling it upwards.
5
. Do not use the tube if the seal of the packet is torn.
6
. Do not use the tube if there is any presence of foreign particles.
7
. Do not use the tube after the expiration date.
8
. Do not mix the upper layer of plasma after the centrifuge.
9
. Collect the blood properly to avoid haemolysis.
