SkinCeuticals launches new Advanced Scar Control

The beauty brand SkinCeuticals has officially released its Advanced Scar Control, a new gel solution that helps improve the appearance and texture of minor cuts, scrapes and scars. From small, post-op surgery scars to the mark left behind after a shaving mishap, this treatment can help nourish and fade scars. With the treatment being available in dermatologist offices for a couple of weeks, it is now available online too. Its formula contains the two commonly-used ingredients in scar treatments, which are a combination of silicones and allantoin. A board-certified dermatologist and associate clinical professor at Yale School of Medicine has been reportedly quoted saying that the addition of silicones are noteworthy because they can help break down collagen, which is key for preventing permanent scar formation. Studies have also shown that allantoin can help speed up wound recovery by reducing inflammation. It can help counteract inflammation when they are forming. It also works as a skin protectant to help provide the much-needed moisture and hydration for scar(s) just like the popular and budget-friendly Mederma Advanced Scar Gel. In clinical trials funded by Skinceuticals, subjects commented that they saw a significant improvement in new and recent scar redness, discoloration, and texture after applying the treatment for 12 weeks.
