Online consultations increase demand for dermatologists

Reportedly, dermatologists are seeing a sudden rise in the number of patients with virtual interactions becoming the new normal. Aesthetic procedures such as botulinum toxin and laser hair removal took a hit last year with lockdown restrictions as well as half the face being covered with mask. But with everything now going online, from classes to business meetings to social events, people have been realising the importance of a mask-free face and the number of patients opting for aesthetic treatments has jumped up. From June-July 2021, aesthetic clinics majorly have got busy again. It is also known that there have been several cases of patients suffering from hair loss, which is one of the after effects of COVID-19 infection. With several apprehensions initially about procedural dermatology that required close interaction between the doctors and the patients, procedures in the new normal are being carried out with the doctors and patients wearing masks, with doctors also ensuring surgical scrubs, gloves and surgical cap too.
