New location, wider space…
Dr Trasi’s La Piel has recently opened its doors to its patients in a new location – Dadar in Mumbai. Shriyal Sethumadhavan takes a sneak peek into the new clinic’s infrastructure and focus on safety and patient comfort.

A new location and wider space with a focus on what exactly the patient wants! This is what the newly opened Dr Trasi’s La Piel is all about. The complete set up includes two consultation rooms and three treatment rooms. What’s more, a chemist shop is attached to the clinic further ensuring easy availability of medicines.
Back in the year 1945, Dr Manohar Trasi had initiated the clinic in Dadar (Mumbai) in a small room. Further, Dr Shrilata Trasi (daughter-in-law of Dr Manohar Trasi) took over the practice and along with dermatology went on to introduce cosmetology as well. Then, Dr Shefali Nerurkar joined her mother (Dr Shrilata Trasi) and treatments for body contouring and hair were introduced for the patients. With an increase in the number of treatments also came the need to ensure the much needed privacy while providing the treatments to the patients. This is what led to the change in location and the recent reopening of the new clinic.
What’s in the offering!
The clinic caters to conditions pertaining to skin, nail and hair. Dr Shefali Trasi Nerurkar, MBBS, MD (Dermatology), Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Trasi Clinic and La Piel Skin Clinic, shares, “In skin, in addition to the basic dermatological issues, we treat hyperpigmentation, offer anti-ageing procedures such as botulinum toxin, fillers, and thread-lifts, along with vampire facials. We also offer hair treatments such as mesotherapy and PRP. All these treatments are done under the expert guidance of doctors.” Further, the clinic is well-equipped with the latest technology in lasers for hair removal and scar, and pigmentation management. It also helps the patients in achieving the desired body shape and work towards weight loss without any surgical interventions.
Safety first!
At the La Piel Skin Clinic, safety comes first. The clinic has ensured taking into consideration all the required precautions during the COVID times. With its staff vaccinated with both doses since April 2021, the clinic is sanitised regularly. This plus, post every consultation, the room, including the chairs and beds are cleaned with a disinfectant. Dr Nerurkar shares, “With all due precautions, we are trying our best to ensure comfort to our patients and give them the desired treatments.”
Outreach
One important aspect to be considered while opening a new clinic is to inform the patients and ensure they come to the new location. In this case, Dr Nerurkar informs, “We are utilising the social media platform to inform our patients about the change in location. We are also personally calling our loyal patients. Our good work speaks volumes and that is the only special effort we plan to put in. For a doctor, a good word of mouth from the patients is most important.”
With the launch of the new clinic in Dadar, Dr Trasi Clinic and La Piel Skin Clinic now has a total of three clinics in Mumbai. “At present, we plan to maintain a uniformity in all three clinics for the benefit of our patients. But as time progresses, we plan to expand our treatments and services,” Dr Nerurkar concludes.
